Taking a new slant. I have previously tried to photograph my dolls and figures to make them look as realistic as possible. This challenge entertained me for a number of years. However, this misses one of the attributes of dolls that I find so appealing; their intrinsic dollness that sets them aside from living, breathing humans. So, the next step is to attempt to photograph dolls pretending to be people, pretending to be dolls. A celebration of the "otherness" of artificial, miniature life. Don't try to hide or overlook the joints and the stringing. Celebrate them. Let the dolls wear their strangeness like a badge of honour. This is a theme that I plan to explore further, once I can grab a spare minute.
